The young soldier jerked upright on his cot, another wave of violent pain tore through him.

Outside, the distant thunder of artillery. But inside conditions were as lethal as the battlefield, more soldiers dying from infection and disease than from enemy bullets.

Again, the young soldier called out: “Please… someone…water.”

The soldier lay back. In his moment of hopelessness, the faint glow of an oil lamp appeared.

Coming closer it revealed the compassionate face of a tall, determined woman. She lifted a cup of clean water to his lips.

“Easy now,” she said softly.

The soldier stared in disbelief. Such a beautiful woman, and here in this horrible place?

“What…what is your name?” he whispered to her.

She gave him a reassuring smile. “My name is Florence. Florence Nightingale. Rest now.”

But this wasn’t just any nurse. She was a miracle worker making the needed changes to turn the military hospital from a place where men went to die to a place of healing.

She studied the newly revealed germ theory. Hospitals across Europe and America adopted her system.

Today nurses around the globe still carry the spirit of this heroic woman into every long and challenging shift.

Thank you, Florence Nightingale, the Angel with the lamp.

Sunlight poured through the windows of the crowded church as hundreds of Americans sat in uneasy silence. The Angel of Death hung over Boston.

For just off the American coastline, a massive French armada was rushing to attack them.

Warships. Troop transports. Thousands of soldiers bent on revenge, pillage, and plunder, to burn Boston to the ground.

Inside the Old South Meetinghouse, at the pulpit stood Thomas Prince. His voice rose in prayer, a prayer that would echo down through history…

“Deliver us from the enemy… Send Thy tempest, O Lord, upon the waters… Scatter the ships of our tormentors.”

With them that day was an eleven-year-old boy. His name, John Adams. What he witnessed would launch him through the dark years later on of the American Revolution, knowing the cause of America was more than his alone.

It was God’s...

Patrick could not forget his miraculous vision commanding him to return.

He could hear the voices of the Irish people pleading with him to bring them Christ’s word. But Patrick knew his former slave masters were without mercy.

They would kill him on sight.

He could have ignored the visions. Almost any other person in his circumstance would have.

Instead, he returned. But not with an army. Alone, with only an inspired message from God specially tailored to the people of Ireland.

St. Patrick was a true disciple, a man who came back not for revenge, but to forgive his slave masters to their faces.

More so, to bring them the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Adding to St. Patrick’s divine missionary goal, we also witness, at this early date in history (AD 432), the first abolitionist determined to put an end to slavery.

And the world would never be the same again.

“Give me liberty or give me death!” So said Patrick Henry to a divided America, fearful of standing for independence.

But stand they did.

250 years ago this year, a small group of seemingly ordinary men did something extraordinary. They signed their names to the Declaration of Independence…risking everything!

“Their lives. Their fortunes. Their sacred honor.”

And they didn’t do it for fame or glory.

They did it for you.

Today in 2026 that promise miraculously lives on. But it could easily die if not nurtured, fought for, but most of all, taught to our children and grandchildren!

In the iconic words of President Ronald Reagan: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”

Let us honor our heroes by making ourselves worthy of what they so freely gave us. For without them, we would not recognize our world today. Without them, you would not recognize yourself!

In 1778, during the American Revolutionary War, Daniel Boone was captured by the Shawnee Indians.

Though a prisoner, he studied their language. When he learned of an impending attack on Boonesborough that was encouraged, supplied, and paid for by the British, he escaped the Shawnee village.

Running 160 miles in five days, he warned the settlement.

The siege that followed was one of Daniel Boone’s finest hours. Heavily outnumbered and low on food and supplies, Boone led the defense of the fort with calm and capable resolve.

The settlers held out until the Shawnee attackers, and their British advisors, withdrew. Boonesborough survived, and Boone’s reputation soared.

Yet fame did not bring him fortune. The unscrupulous took advantage of him. He always believed a handshake should be good enough.

He would, however, end up surrendering his claims to unscrupulous lawyers and move farther west. In Daniel Boone’s mind, there was always more land, a God-given blessing just waiting to be won.

Still, his incredible legacy remains, changing the course of American history...

Private Audie Murphy, just over five feet tall and 17-years-old, would become the most decorated American soldier of World War II.

But his war record of unbelievable courage and fighting skill did not begin with the war. It began with family hardship and personal tragedy.

His courage came from a deeply personal place. He simply refused to abandon those who depended on him.

His list of battlefield heroics reads like a movie…or a myth.

By war’s end, now First Lieutenant Audie Murphy had earned every single U.S. combat award for valor. Several of them multiple times. He was wounded more than three times.

At war’s end, now a hardened veteran, he was just twenty years old…not old enough to vote or drink!

But America hailed him a hero. His photo filled the newspapers. And, of course, Hollywood came calling.

But though it was officially over, the war did not so easily end within his heart and soul…

The iron door slammed shut with a dull thud. The torchlight wavered as the Roman guards stepped back from the cell.

Inside, kneeling on cold stone was a man who was scourged, blood dripping from his torn back. Shackles bit into his wrists and ankles. He awaited the executioner’s heavy sword.

Issuing from the Emperor’s palace the “justice” of Rome—proud, powerful, pitiless—had determined the man’s fate before he could say a word in his own defense.

What’s worse, his crime was not treason, theft, or violence.

It was love.

The Latin name of the man Caesar was putting to death was Valenteenus. We know him today as Saint Valentine.

His rebellion nearly 2,000 years ago against Rome’s edict outlawing marriages among all men of military age stands as an example particularly valid today.

And the why makes Valentine’s Day all that more important…

It’s hard to find an American frontiersman with greater skill than Kit Carson.

He left home as a young teen. By his early twenties, he was already a seasoned, well-known, mountain man. He spoke Ute, Shoshoni, Navajo, Apache, Comanche, Cheyenne, Arapaho, Paiute, as well as fluent in Spanish.

During the Mexican War, Carson famously snuck through enemy lines running 30 miles barefoot to get help. He earned a well-deserved reputation for calm bravery under fire.

Later, during the Civil War, Carson served as a Union officer in the New Mexico Territory, leading campaigns against hostile tribes to protect the civilian population.

At the Battle of Adobe Walls against a massive force of up to 3,000 Comanche and Kiowa warriors, Carson, with only 400 men, was able to repel the enemy and conduct a strategic retreat saving nearly all his men from what most thought would be a certain massacre.

Kit Carson remains a controversial American hero. In this episode we reveal why…

On the day of their execution, Vibia and Felicity were led into the arena.

Vibia was forced to wear a pagan costume, one that a priestess-prostitute in the pagan temples would wear. She tore the pagan robes off her body declaring she had come freely in the name of her Lord and God.

Then, the gates were opened. An enraged, tormented cow charged them.

Vibia Perpetua, trying to protect Felicity, was hurled into the air, landing violently on her back. She rolled to her knees and gathered her clothing around her trying to preserve her modesty.

Bleeding and shaken, she stood once more, still protecting Felicity.

The crowd was touched by Vibia’s courage. Just moments before they were a screaming mob with blood in their eyes. Now they stood to honor her, many with tears on their cheeks.

To the last, Vibia Perpetua demonstrated her determination to stand for her faith, for truth, no matter the consequences.

Though wounded, Lieutenant Matt Urban forced himself to stand.

German machine-gun fire tore at the ground around him. His men were pinned down. A tank lurched forward in a grinding whine, its guns swiveling at them, hunting targets. Matt ignored the pain and the blood spreading on his side, snatching up a bazooka.

He dropped to one knee, sighted and fired. The rocket sizzled on its deadly path, the tank bursting into flames, the shape-charge boring a neat, glowing hole through four inches of hardened steel. Matt rallied his men, pulling wounded soldiers to safety.

Then he was hit again. Beyond what seemed humanly possible, he fought on for three more days until his body finally gave out.

The kind of courage Matt Urban showed against impossible odds was something his superiors had a hard time explaining, or the enemy accepting. But in Matt’s case, it was just who he was, accomplishing what witnesses that day could not believe…
