69 - FIRST TO STAND AGAINST SLAVERY | Saint Patrick (Missionary) | Early Middle Ages
Patrick could not forget his miraculous vision commanding him to return.
He could hear the voices of the Irish people pleading with him to bring them Christ’s word. But Patrick knew his former slave masters were without mercy.
They would kill him on sight.
He could have ignored the visions. Almost any other person in his circumstance would have.
Instead, he returned. But not with an army. Alone, with only an inspired message from God specially tailored to the people of Ireland.
St. Patrick was a true disciple, a man who came back not for revenge, but to forgive his slave masters to their faces.
More so, to bring them the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Adding to St. Patrick’s divine missionary goal, we also witness, at this early date in history (AD 432), the first abolitionist determined to put an end to slavery.
And the world would never be the same again.
